Douglas Adams and the Okapi

The okapi may look like a crazy animal, with zebra like stripes on their legs and the odd brown color of a horse or the like.

But you might be surprised to learn the okapi is closely related to the giraffe.  The body shape is similar to a giraffe, it just does not have the neck we recognize as a giraffe.

But it also has a flexible blue tongue like the giraffe.   The okapi runs wild in Central Africa in the Congo region.

Another odd aspect of the okapi is that he was mentioned in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.   But while Douglas Adams states Arthur Dent was “nibbled to death by an Okapi” this okapi is just entering your heart. Take this okapi heart home for fans and lovers of this interesting mammalian.

It is in belief, in the act of believing that miracles can happen because you can see them. Miracles can still happen without belief but they lose their color and beauty.
